Went and gave blood for immune tests. Results in Tuesday.
Here everything is bargainable. Not just in the souk (outdoor) type shopping, even in malls, in some stores, you ask "is there a discount?" and they discount the price.
Well I was totally joking when I asked the lab guy "is there a discount" and sure enough he discounted the total price by like 100 Egyptian pounds!
Super S was with me and he could not believe it, we could not believe it!!!
God Bless Cairo man, I swear.

That's hilarious! I wonder what the lab folks here in the UK would do if I asked them... I love hearing stories like this :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, that is funny.
ReplyDeleteThat is great! I might have to try that sometime here in the States. Doubt it will work but it never hurts to try.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy husband wants to bargain for EVERYTHING. My dentist made me a retainer to straighten my teeth. I asked the price, but didn't get any details. When my husband heard the price, he said "Get him to throw in a tooth whitening kit too." He's been pretty insistent about that. I ignored him (because I hate bargaining), and I'm glad I did. It turns out that my almost $700 bought my retainer plus an appointment every 2-3 weeks for 6 months. That feels like a bargain to me.
That is awesome :) When I have been a situation like that, I have always been too nervous to really bargin well.
ReplyDeleteWow that's crazy! Here, you'd probably get escorted to your car if you asked that! haha
ReplyDeletehahaha, that's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteNICE!!! If you don't ask, how will you know? YAY for discounts!
ReplyDelete*HUGS*
That's great! But actually, it does sometimes work here in the US. When I didn't have insurance and needed an x-ray, I asked for and was given a discount.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what an 100 Egyptian pounds is but I wish someone would discount me 100 Jess pounds. LOL! I know that was bad. ; )
ReplyDeleteI wish you could bargain here.
I don´t think I can try it here, as there is a government decided price on these things, all doctors/labs have an agreement with the government and you only pay some percentage or some top price.
ReplyDeleteBut I like a bargain :)
LOL That is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteomg, that's awesome! take full advantage of all the discounts you can get!
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy! No, that's never happened to me. I've been TOLD everything's negotiable around here too, but I don't think I've ever asked. I'm not much of a bargainer.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! You can negotiate and have discounts on Lab tests?
ReplyDeleteI am so coming to Cairo!
Ya never know unless you ask
ReplyDeleteThat is so so so incredibly brilliant. I love that you asked. I love that they haggled.
ReplyDeletethat is truly awesome, just goes to show you should always ask, even if you think the answer is going to be no :) I'm a big fan of "is there any way you can better that price?", it's saved us a boatload of money in the past - I'm pretty sure it wouldn't stretch to lab fees though!
ReplyDeleteI gave you a blog award today :)
Haha, that's awesome! You should ask your RE for a discount too! :-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously!? That's awesome! I'm going to try that next time I go to the doctor. :)
