Even if you are not a soccer fan

... you would be if you were here in Cairo tonight. Super S and I are not really, but the city is on fire man. Egypt plays Algeria in Sudan in a half hour and the streets here are crazy! Beeping cars, people with drums, screaming, celebrating and the game did not even start yet!

If Egypt wins tonight, they qualify to go to the World Cup in South Africa.

Last week it was crazy too, Egypt won against Algeria here in Cairo and people celebrated ALL NIGHT LONG!

We have TV on and will be fans for tonight. It will be so nice if Egypt wins, nice for the country I wish them luck! Nice, LOL... Cairo will be cRaZy!!!

UPDATE: Algeria 1, Egypt 0
A very quiet Cairo tonight.

  1. I saw that Algeria won, to bad would have been fun to make it to world cup. I´m however dreading june, as my DH is a crazy soccer fan, and I will not be able to get any attention during the world cup.

  2. That's too bad. It would have been fun if Egypt won.

  3. aww, that sucks. :( Maybe next time! My husband made me watch a shot of that France/Ireland game where the guy touched the ball w/ his hand and it still counted b/c the refs didn't catch it. That sucks too, not fair!

  4. come visit us in south africa anyway ;)

  5. Oh, too bad, I read the first comment, I wish Egypt had won. I guess it's hard not to get caught up in all the celebrating if it's right outside! Have fun anyways.

  6. Wow that's crazy! I like soccer but am not a big fan, but people going nutters over a game is awesome! Too bad they lost though.

  7. Oh soccer craziness. I used to live in England and it was amazing at the soccer craziness. Now that I am back in the US it is a little more tame- now hockey on the other hand gets really crazy where we live.

Stopping by for an ICLW visit...
