I never liked fruitcake...
But yesterday I got a fruitcake.
A friend from the States was visiting Cairo for a few days. We met her downtown and she gave us this great big box from a famous patissere shop here, I thought that it would be the usual torta (cake) or gateux (mini cakes). When I opened it to find a beautiful bundt cake wrapped with a silk red ribbon, and great keepsake tin, I thought yum, it looks like some kind of pound cake with icing and cherries.
So i cut a piece and what do you know fruitcake. But I like it and so does DH. (see how much we ate, almost half!)
I just never thought I'd enjoy fruitcake, or eat fruitcake, and never in a million years did I imagine I'd be eating fruitcake in Egypt! LOL!!!

My doctor has been away, should be back tomorrow. I will call to schedule surgery for my tube removal.
I'll keep you posted... xoxoxoxoxo
The Egyptians aren't shackled by the standards for gross holiday fruitcake, so they can just combine fruit and cake and make it good!
ReplyDeleteOf course, if you bought a fruitcake from a famous patisserie (esp. one that actually used the word patisserie) in the U.S. maybe it would be good too.
I've always said that I don't like fruitcake but in all honesty, I have never tried it! LOL That looks unlike fruitcake here in the States...it looks better!
ReplyDeletePraying for your surgery to go smoothly. Keep me updated!
((HUGS))
Yum! I have to admit i'm one of the few people who LOVES fruitcake! It has to be a nice moist one though...and if it's served with something else like ice-ceam or cream I love it even more! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you tomorrow! I hope the surgery scheduling goes well.
I have honestly never tried fruitcake. LOL. I figure I don't like any type of "cooked" fruit in pie so why bother with it in cake. LOL. Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with scheduling your surgery.
As "Lost in Space" I never tried fruitcake either, but yours look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteHope the surgery go well.
