Moving Ahead

Hey, I'm still around, aren't you glad, LOL!

All is good, the beyouch came and is currently here as expected, gotta love her promptness and inexcusable visits even when she isn't welcome. Oh well, thats part of life. It's part of being infertile I guess too, sucks, but oh well.

Anyway, we are moving full steam ahead. After the insistant visitor leaves, I will go to doctor and talk about removing my only fallopian tube, the left one. The consensus is that MAYBE it has been the problem of NO implantations, MAYBE, just MAYBE?

It is useless really. But it just seems so final to me. After this NO MO' TUBES at all! Not like its helped me anyway, has it?  It is damaged and gives me pain sometimes and they said it could be leaking fluids (possibily infectious, took anitbitoics before last two transfers) into uterine cavity and interferring with implantation.

Even if its not the reason that all 6 of our transfers failed, i think it is a good idea to just get rid of it, don't you? Even though my tubes are unable to help get me pregnant, it feels scary somehow, but I have decided to just do it I guess.

In all fairness, before transfer number 5, two doctors did suggest I do the ligation, the closing off of it or a complete removal entirely. So what is best option, leave it, closing it off only or complete removal? I'll see what doctor says, what do you know about this, anything?

Nothing else too too exciting going on. Winter cooler weather is here, for us cold is like 40 F, LOL so we are punks for real! But I LOVE winter, especially these mild ones.

Hope you are all well, had great holidays and I am wishing all of us a baby-filled 2009! Oh yeah and I will also wish for PEACE in this crazy world of ours, you too ok?

  1. I love you, love you, love you, love you and your spunk. I really, truly do.

I don't know much about tube removal vs. just closing it off. I do have a personal friend who needed IVF because both of her tubes were completely blocked. She had two fresh transfers, both of which failed. The doctor suggested that both of her tubes were removed before she had a FET, thinking that it was probably infectious fluid from the tubes seeping in which made the uterus a hostile environment. Ultimately she never had it done and hasn't had any other transfers (this was almost 8 years ago.

2009, just has to be the year that the wishes come true.

  2. Oh wishy, this is a big decision. I am sorry that you have to face this decision. We will support you always.

2009 has got to be better than 08, for all things including world peace and new children entering our lives.

  3. I don't have any real information for you about the tubes, but it seems to me that if you know there's no way you can get pregnant without IVF anyway, then the possibility that removing the tube to prevent leaking fluids would only help your chances. Except that it's another surgery, but if you're up for it...

Wouldn't it be wonderful if that was the solution?

  4. I am glad! I love your resolve and I think your plan is as good as any! I wish YOU good luck and a baby-filled 2009 also. :)

  5. Here from L&F.
    Sorry about your loss.
Having to remove your fallopian tube, that really sucks even if it didn't help with ttc and even if it was actually in the way.
Hope the operation goes well, and wishing you luck with ttc.

  6. Here through L&F - I am having my tubes removed this Friday. Scary to do, but what good are they doing us anyways is right. Right? :)
My doctor is removing completely (scissors that burn together the end) rather than tying off so no chance of tubal (my issue) again.

Good luck, I am sorry your last IVF was a bust :(

  7. ugh, sorry about the cycle. big decision about the tube. maybe it is just in the way?

  8. Here from L&F and so sorry you are facing a negative and this difficult decision. I am sure you will come to the right decision...we always do, even though we have to go through the torture of making it first. Wishing you all the best.

  9. Hi, i duno if this is any help to you but have you thought about being tested for NKC or 'natural killer cells'. its a simple test similar to a pap smear and is very popular latley will some positive results. The NKC can stop the emryo from implanting if the woman has a high level of them in her uterus. Just a thought anyway. Good luck with everything.

  10. I have been thinking of you lots lately and am glad to see a post. I don't know much about damaged tubes, but have heard of this being done before. With enough research and understanding I would definitely consider it. Many hugs, hun. I truly wish this were not a decision you had to face.

  11. I've had one of my tubes removed and wonder if the other shouldn't be as well. They keep saying that it's okay but I keep wondering, since I've had no luck with pregnancy yet. I say, take it out...sounds like it can only better your chances! :)

    Happy New Year, sweet girl!!

  12. I say get rid of the tubes. My clinic wouldn't even let me do IVF if I didn't get rid of mine. Like you said, they aren't helping you anyway!

  13. I've been wondering and thinking if you were ok. Sounds like such a big decision.. Sorry, I don't know much about it. Whatever you do, I'm right behind you. I'm praying that 2009 is your year.

  14. Hey babe if I could come visit you I would. I can tell you're not your cheerful self. I certainly understand.

In late 2007 it was recommened that I have both my blocked tubes removed. At fisrt I wasn't sure, but in the end I knew it would be best. My RE said if I left them in it would lessen my chances by half. He also mentioned the fluid issue.

So in January 2008 I had them removed. I like to say I went wireless.

  15. Forgot to mention one more thing.

    Removal vs Blocking

My RE and OB suggested removal over blocking. The thought is over time my tubes would fill up with the fluid and look like a sausage.

  16. Okay, totally showing my ignorance here, but I have no clue how close you are to what's going on over there. The stuff that I'm reading and seeing in the news is scary. How close are you to Gaza? Please say, far, far away.

    Covering you in prayer tonight.
