Final Beta

My third and final beta dropped to 34 yesterday. So it seems this is or was a chemical pregnancy. Called doctor, said stop progesterone and all medications, duh, thanks.

You know, I remember reading on some blogs, under the treatments people have went through thus far TTC, many listed chemical pregnancy, which I actually had to Google as I didn't know what it meant.

I have no bleeding yet, so i will just get my period sometime soon then? I asked doctor if I needed any surgery to remove anything, he said no, that everything will go out naturally in a menstrual cycle. So now I await AF...

Thats it for now- will try to forget this, yet another failed IVF round for us.

I feel sad, but know for whatever reason, it is not meant for us to have a baby yet....

  2. Gee, I was hoping that wasn't what was happening. I have had three and was told that chemical pregnancies are the step-child because they don't really have a true classification. They are a pregnancy becuase you receive a positive pregnancy test, but they are not quite a miscarriage because there is no fetal sac. There is not a ton of research behind these, but the majority of the time they are caused by chromosomal abnormalities.I was also told that the embryo attaches, but then it dies. On the upside (as small as it may seem)my doctor told me that a chemical pregnancy is a positive thing/good sign because it shows signs that your body is responding to the treatments and that you CAN actually get pregnant. Nonetheless, they are not easy to experience because your hope is heightened and then shattered.Ugh!

You will get your period in a few days, once your progesterone level drops. It may be a bit heavier this month because your lining was built up.

I'm sorry, and I'm sad for you. I want to cry right now because I know how badly we all want this. We will get our babies some day, one way or another. We WILL be mothers, no doubts about it! I'm sorry, dear. I am truly, truly sorry! I empathize with you.

  3. Oh Wishing, I'm so sorry. what a terrible blow. There aren't any words. Life after D and C (http://lifeafterdandc.blogspot.com)had an early miscarriage like you fairly recently. You may want to read some of her blog as she describes waiting for her period and her sadness. I don't know about others, but a chemical pregnancy is a miscarriage to me, and it is okay to grieve it as much as you need to. Your hopes were lifted, the dreams of your baby began. This is such a loss, and I'm so sorry. I'm thinking about you and your husband.
